Cottage Life is a magazine, television channel and trade show bringing you everything cottage related. I’ve been a part of growing the brand's physical footprint for 7 years. Everything from redesigning the website, helping launch an e-commerce shop, logo designs for sales campaigns, on-air graphics, social posts, print and signage for the trade show.
The existing Cottage Life website lacked responsiveness, making it challenging for users to access content seamlessly across various devices. Additionally, the website did not effectively integrate the diverse departments within the organization, including Editorial, TV, Event Show, E-commerce, and Publishing and Sales teams. This disjointed online presence was causing a suboptimal user experience and hampering the brand's effectiveness.
To address these challenges, we initiated a comprehensive website redesign project. First, we identified the need for a responsive design, ensuring that users could access content effortlessly on any device. This included conducting thorough research to understand user behavior and preferences. In parallel, we engaged with cross-functional teams from Editorial, TV, Event Show, E-commerce, and Publishing and Sales departments.
We facilitated open communication and collaboration, ensuring that each department's unique requirements and contributions were considered. To ensure everyone was onboard with the project, we conducted workshops to educate team members on UX/UI design principles and best practices.
This involved sharing case studies, conducting hands-on design exercises, and fostering a culture of design thinking within the organization
The outcome of this project was a responsive Cottage Life website that not only met user expectations but also integrated the various departments into a cohesive online platform. Users could now enjoy a seamless experience across devices, accessing content from Editorial, TV, Event Show, E-commerce, and Publishing and Sales teams in one unified space.
The educational initiatives had a profound impact, with teams becoming more design-aware and user-centric in their approach. This collaborative mindset enhanced the quality and relevance of content and offerings, resulting in improved user engagement and satisfaction.
The responsive design and cross-functional integration led to increased website traffic, longer user sessions, and improved conversions. The Cottage Life website became a true hub for all things related to cottage living, offering a delightful and unified user experience.
